DURING THE ULTRASOUND:

During an ultrasound you will likely lie down on an examination bed. The ultrasound technologist will apply a water based gel upon the area being scanned. A probe will then be applied to the area using varying degrees of pressure to obtain a black and white image. These images are captured to be examined by a Radiologist.  The Ultrasound Technologist is unable to interpret images and therefore cannot provide a verbal report to the patient.

AFTER THE ULTRASOUND:

Results from the Radiologist will be sent to your ordering physician to discuss with you.
