X-Ray Information for Patients and Family

WHERE?

Georgian Bay General Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Department, located on the main level just past switchboard and in close proximity to the Emergency Department.

TIME?

Depends on the test, most are completed in approximately 15 minutes, but can range from 5-20 minutes. GBGH DI Reception- 705-526-1300 x 5090.

X-Ray procedures are done on a walk-in basis Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00hrs. No appointment is necessary. A completed requisition from your physician is required.

Emergency patient’s take precedence and may cause delays.

HOURS OF OPERATION:

Outpatients and walk-ins are welcomed Monday to Friday from 0800-1600hrs.
A trained Medical Radiation Technologist is available 24 hours, 7 days per week to perform X-Rays for the Emergency Department and Inpatients.

DURING THE XRAY:

The MRT will position your body to capture the most appropriate images for the radiologist to review. You will be asked to hold still while the MRT takes the picture.

AFTER THE XRAY:

Results from the Radiologist will be sent to your ordering physician to discuss with you.
