We welcome you as an active volunteer; our Hospital needs you. Through your warm welcome to the patients and helpful concern for others, your reliability, enthusiasm and cheerful willingness, you will be helping to provide services that would otherwise not be available.
Volunteers assist at Georgian Bay General Hospital to provide extra services and comfort to patients, as well as to raise the much needed funds for hospital equipment.

Your Commitment
Your commitment means that many people depend on you – patients and staff. We ask that you make a minimum of a one-year commitment of service as a volunteer.
All prospective volunteers must complete an application form and be interviewed. If accepted, you will receive training in your chosen area of service by a volunteer trainer. Students (those 15 and over) wishing to volunteer are always welcome. Students should start the application process two to three months ahead of the end of the term if they want to volunteer during the summer break. This is due to the time involved for the application process and subsequent police checks that must take place before your start date.
Our Volunteers work closely with potentially vulnerable patients and their families. A copy of a Vulnerable Sector Police Check is mandatory (Not required if below the age of 18)
-In a hospital setting workers are potentially at risk for acquiring a communicable disease. The Public Hospitals Act 1990, Regulation 965 requires that health surveillance and communicable disease surveillance be conducted on all persons carrying out activities in the hospital.
All tests and necessary vaccines are completed by our team at GBGH.

Patient and Family Advisory Committee Volunteers:
Our PFAC is seeking members who are committed to investing their time in making our hospital better for patients and families. By sharing their GBGH stories and thinking beyond their personal experience, our PFAC members provide valuable feedback about how we can improve the care we offer. PFAC members are volunteers, and can also assist any other department that accepts volunteers.
