Dear patients, family and friends,
If a patient is wearing an orange armband it means
they are at risk of falling.
Here’s how you can help prevent falls:
Ensure the bedside table and all belongings are
within reach.
Ensure walking aids are
within reach.
Help the patient if they need help with
anything, including going to the washroom
(and stay with them until the patient is done).
Remind patients to sit at the side of their bed
before standing up. This prevents patients from
getting dizzy.
Ensure the call bell is within reach.
Ensure patients have good fitting
footwear or non-slip socks .
Speak to the care
team and ask what
else can be done to
help!
